The Receipt Lottery: Don’t Throw That Paper Away

Every purchase in Taiwan is a lottery ticket. Yes, even that 7-11 water bottle. You could be throwing away 10 million NTD.

What is it?

The Uniform Invoice Lottery (統一發票) was created to encourage businesses to report taxes. It legally obligates them to give you a receipt. That receipt has an 8-digit number.

The Prizes

  • Special Prize: 10 Million NTD (~$300k USD)
  • Grand Prize: 2 Million NTD
  • First Prize: 200k NTD
  • ...down to: 200 NTD (minimum prize)

How to Play

  1. Keep the Receipts: Don't bin them.
  2. Draw Dates: 25th of every odd month (Jan, Mar, May...).
  3. Check: Use an app like "Colibri" or "Invos" to scan the QR code. It tells you instantly if you won.
  4. Claim: Go to any 7-11 for small prizes. They give you cash or store credit.

Can Foreigners Win?

YES. As long as you have the physical paper receipt, you can claim the money.
