Qixingtan Beach
Hualien’s signature coast, bluest in the morning. Curved pebble bay + Central Mountains in one frame. Strolling and cycling only—no swimming. Pair with Taroko.
Why mornings only
A curved bay 15km north of Hualien City: cobalt transparent sea + distant Central Mountains—the Hualien postcard itself. Bluest in the morning; afternoons cloud over, so shoot early.
How to enjoy (no swimming)
- Stroll + cycle: boardwalk + city bike lane straight there; sea breeze and surf.
- Stone stacking + wave listening: smooth-pebble beach ritual; taking stones is banned.
- Sunrise tower + stargazing plaza + stone park: lookout, playground, eco boards in one walk.
Access & time needed
- ~20 min by car from Hualien Station; or Taiwan Tourist Shuttle 310 (Taroko line) to Qixingtan stop.
- Stay 1–2 hrs. Pair with Taroko (Swallow Grotto / Jiuqudong) for a Hualien day.
Tips
- No swimming: big waves + sudden drop-offs. Don’t chase the surf for photos.
- Windy in monsoon season—bring a shell; wear good shoes on pebbles.
Photo spots
Curved bay + mountain panorama, sunrise tower, stacked-stone foreground.
