TL;DR / Quick Summary
We ranked them all. Which are the tourist traps? Where do the locals actually go? The results might upset some YouTubers.
S-Tier (God Level)
- Ningxia Night Market: Short, concentrated, zero fluff. All food. Micheline Bib Gourmands everywhere. The Oyster Omelet here is the gold standard.
- Raohe Night Market: The pepper bun at the entrance is worth the hype. It is manageable and has a beautiful temple next door.
A-Tier (Great)
- Tonghua (Linjiang) Night Market: Very local. Good mix of food and shopping. The Fried Chicken here is elite.
- Nanjichang Night Market: Hard to get to (no MRT), which means fewer tourists and cheaper prices. For serious foodies only.
B-Tier (Okay)
- Shilin Night Market: It is huge. It is famous. It is... okay. It is a maze and the prices are higher. Go once for the experience, then graduate to S-Tier.
F-Tier (Avoid)
- Ximending: This is a shopping district, not a night market. Don't go there expecting street food carts. Go there for sneakers and anime.
