TL;DR / Quick Summary

When homestyle cooking meets a five-star hotel. The braised Chinese cabbage covered in crispy egg floss showcases the most delicate side of Taiwanese cuisine.

Located inside the Grand Mayfull Hotel Taipei, Mipon (米香) breaks the stereotype that "hotel Taiwanese food is usually not authentic enough." With decades of culinary mastery, Executive Chef Chen Yung-hua has elevated the familiar homestyle flavors closest to Taiwanese people's hearts to the level of fine dining.

1. Cuisine: Recreating Lost Hand-crafted Techniques

Mipon's menu is full of nostalgia, but every dish is meticulously refined.

  • Braised Chinese Cabbage with Fish Skin (魚皮白菜滷): This dish is the soul of Mipon. Unlike the versions found at street stalls, precious fish skin is added here to introduce collagen. The most remarkable part is the freshly fried "egg floss" (蛋酥) covering the top. The golden and crispy egg floss absorbs the sweet and savory broth, offering a rich multitude of textures.
  • Honey Glazed Spare Ribs (蜜汁排骨): Selected pork belly ribs with an ideal balance of fat and lean meat are coated in a sauce simmered from black dates and honey. With just the right amount of sweet and sour and incredibly tender meat, it is a flavor that both adults and children will fall in love with.

2. Space: An Elegant Banquet

As a five-star hotel restaurant, Mipon's environment is naturally impeccable. The high-ceilinged space, crystal chandeliers, and comfortable sofa seating make it extremely suitable for business banquets or elders' birthday celebrations. Compared to the usual clamor of typical Taiwanese restaurants, there is an added touch of elegant composure here.

3. Real User Insights

Gourmand's Notes:

  • Beef with Shishito Peppers (糯米椒牛肉): This is an excellent dish to pair with rice. The slight spiciness and the aroma of fermented black beans, paired with tender beef, make people unable to resist eating another bowl of rice.
  • Service: With hotel-level service standards, frequent plate changes, and detailed explanations, it gives the host treating the guests a lot of face (prestige).

4. Practical Information

  • Location: 3F, No. 55, Lequn 2nd Road, Zhongshan District, Taipei City (Grand Mayfull Hotel Taipei).
  • Parking: The hotel's underground parking lot has ample and spacious spots.
